Wichita’s fourth Jersey Mike’s will open later this year at a busy west-side intersection
By fall of this year, Wichita will have yet another spot to get “the juice.”
Annette and Ryan Hennes, who in July 2023 opened a Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant at Braeburn Square on the Wichita State University Innovation Campus, will add their second restaurant in an under-construction strip center at 217 S. Ridge Road.
The center, owned by brothers and developers Brian and Paul Suellentrop, sits just north of the Outback Steakhouse at Maple and Ridge. The new Jersey Mike’s will be on the north end of the center.
Annette Hennes said on Friday that the couple is aiming for an October opening.
She and her husband are the second Jersey Mike’s franchisees to start doing business in Wichita. The three other Jersey Mike’s are all owned by Chris Stong, who opened the first Wichita location of the chain in 2020. He also has shops at 1918 N. Rock Road in Derby and at 2616 N. Maize Road.
Stong said recently that he’s still hoping to open more Jersey Mike’s.
Annette Hennes said that when she and her husband first signed their Jersey Mike’s franchise agreement three years ago, they planned to open their first restaurant at Maple and Ridge.
But at the time, “there were just no spots that would work,” she said.
Hennes said she and her husband also hope to open more Jersey Mike’s restaurants.
Jersey Mike’s is a New Jersey-based chain that specializes in hot subs, cold subs and wraps. It’s known for a topping called “the juice,” which is a zingy mixture of olive oil and red wine vinegar.
More than 3,000 Jersey Mike’s restaurants operate across the country.
