Dining With Denise Neil

A 30-year-old Old Town Wichita mainstay has closed, and the search is on for a new tenant

One of Old Town Wichita’s oldest hot spots has closed.

Heroes at 117 N. Mosley, which first opened in 1991, closed about a week ago, said Grant Glasgow, president of of NAI Martens.

“We have that on the market, and we do have some interest in it, so hopefully we’ll get it filled back up soon,” Glasgow said.

The lead agent on the listing is Trevor Stacy with NAI Martens.

The bar is owned by Wichita developer Ted Timsah, who bought it from the Gates family in 2015. In 2017, he turned operation of Heroes over to Hussein Alkasasy, Raed Mansour and Ehab Mansour, partners who have had their hands in the takeovers of several other Wichita businesses, including Town & Country, The Chalet and 6 Degrees. Under their watch, Heroes became known as more of a nightclub and less of a gathering place for sports fans.

The partners and Timsah did not immediately return messages about the closing on Friday.

Glasgow said he was optimistic that NAI Martens could find a new tenant for the space quickly.

“We have had good interest in it,” he said. “It’s in a busy part of Old Town, and it’s more or less in move-in condition.”

Wichita entrepreneur Gary Streepy first opened Heroes in December 1991. It was one of the first businesses in Old Town, along with Larkspur and River City Brewing Co.
