Dining With Denise Neil

Just-vacated Old Town Wichita spot will soon be home to a new bar and pizzeria

A new bar and pizzeria is coming to Old Town.

The owners of Heroes Sports Bar & Grill and 6 Degrees are planning to open a pizzeria and bar in the space at 919 E. Douglas that Peerless just vacated. And the name they’ve chosen — Alibi Old Town — may be an ode to a previous business. The Alibi Room operated in the spot from 2007 to 2015. Peerless opened in 2016.

The owners say the new business should be open in about a month. I’m set to chat with them later today and will let you know more details then.

Peerless closed in March after owner Travis Hatfield said he faced a steep increase in rent.

Hussein Alkasasy, Raed Mansour and Ehab Mansour took over Heroes in 2017. They briefly ran a revival of The Chalet at 3030 N. Penstemon. Late last year, they opened 6 Degrees in the former Joe’s Old Town Bar & Grill space at 222 N. Washington.
