Second Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria opens today on the east side

The east-side Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria opens today – June 1 – in the former Kyoto Steakhouse of Japan spot at at 535 N. Woodlawn. I stopped by this morning, and staff members were busily preparing for the opening.

You’ll have to use your lookers to find it. The new restaurant, which is tucked back into a strip mall at the corner of Central and Woodlawn, isn’t visible from the road. But a noticeable sign is posted at the entrance off of Woodlawn, near Great Harvest Bread Company.

The interior is big and open, and one of the servers pointed me to some recently completed tables whose surfaces are decorated with beer labels. There’s also an interesting looking bike rack in the front, where visitors hang their bikes vertically by the front tire.

The menu and hours will be the same as the west-side restaurant, managers said, though they’re considering extending evening hours at the east-side restaurant. For now, they’ll be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

The first Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria opened at 8815 W. 13th in 2011.
