Unique Wichita vegan restaurant makes national list of country’s best

Wichita: It looks like Food Network is on to us.

On the heels of Yokohama Ramen Joint making a Food Network list of “Where to Slurp Great Ramen from Coast to Coast,” another Wichita restaurant has made another list.

This time it’s Kind Kravings, the popular (and eye-catching) vegan restaurant that operates out of a double decker bus owned by Rochelle Collins and Shea West. The restaurant was just included on Food Network’s new list titled “50 States of Vegetarian Food,” which named a top vegetarian restaurant from each state. Kind Kravings got the nod in Kansas.

The entry reads:

“So much more than a food truck, this is a full-on double-decker bus offering seating on top and a panoply of vegan delicacies on the ground floor, such as taco salad, lentil loaf, Asian noodle salad, roasted cauliflower tacos and marinated portobello mushroom PLTs.”

Kind Kravings is one of Wichita’s few vegetarian options, and its double-decker rig — which the owners frequently operate at the ICT Pop-Up Park — has earned much attention.

Collins and West first opened Kind Kravings in 2015 in a smaller trailer, but they got the bus in March 2017. They bought it in California, but it had once served as a London tour bus. They have the kitchen on the lower level and a cozy dining room on the upper level.

They shared the Food Network post on their own Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon.

“What an honor to be recognized by such a food giant,” the post read. “Much love and gratitude!”
