Chipper Jones will be added to the Kansas Stars team for the National Baseball Congress World Series, two team sources confirmed Monday night.

The team announced a 25-man roster on Sunday night that included 24 former major leaguers, including Roger Clemens, Tim Hudson, J.D. Drew and Roy Oswalt. Jones is a friend of Adam LaRoche, who organized the team along with fellow former MLB player Nate Robertson.

Jones joins Clemens, ninth on the MLB career list with 354 wins, as the team's biggest attractions. Jones played from 1993-2012 for the Atlanta Braves, capturing the National League MVP award in 1999. He was an eight-time All-Star.

In 20 seasons, Jones, a 44-year-old switch-hitting third baseman, accumulated 2,726 hits, a .303 batting average, 468 home runs and 1,623 RBIs. He won a batting title in 2008 at age 36 with a .364 average.

In a radio appearance on Monday, Robertson said the team was likely to use all 28 of its roster spots allowed by the NBC, leaving three open. Jones joins a group of position players that includes LaRoche, Drew, Dan Uggla, Brandon Inge and Jack Wilson.
