Wichita State sophomore guard Landry Shamet earned honorable mention All-American honors on Tuesday from the Associated Press.

Shamet led WSU to a 25-8 record and led the team in scoring (14.9) and assists (5.2), while earning first-team all-conference status in the American Athletic Conference. Shamet led the conference in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5) and ranked second in both three-pointers per game (2.6) and three-point percentage (.442).

Shamet is just the 10th player in program history to earn All-American honors from the AP and the fourth from the last five years, joining Cleanthony Early (third team All-American in 2014), Fred VanVleet (three-time honorable mention from 2014-16), and Ron Baker (honorable mention in 2015).

Past All-Americans at WSU include Dave Stallworth (first team in 1964, second team in 1965), Cheese Johnson (honorable mention in 1979), Antoine Carr (honorable mention in 1982, third team in 1983), Cliff Levingston (honorable mention in 1982), Xavier McDaniel (first team in 1985), and Paul Miller (honorable mention in 2006).
