Severe weather threat prompts numerous postponements

Several Wichita-area events were postponed due to the threat of severe weather Thursday.

▪ The Ron Baker autograph session at Wichita State University has been rescheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

▪ The Solid Growth Workshop at the Sedgwick County Courthouse was canceled.

▪ A farewell reception for Wichita superintendent John Allison, scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at North High, was postponed. A new date for the event has not been set.

▪ Andover eCademy graduation has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Andover Central High School.

▪ The Andover High School and Andover Middle School band concert has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at Andover High School.

▪ All Andover practices or activities scheduled to be in a district facility Thursday night have been canceled.

▪ The Sedgwick County Republican Party meeting featuring Eric Teetsel, president of Family Policy Alliance of Kansas, has been rescheduled for June 1 at the Wichita Builders Association. Social begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m.

▪ A job fair planned for Friday at the the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center has been postponed. A post on the center’s Facebook page Thursday said the event will be rescheduled.

▪ Girls high school soccer regional championship games: Northwest vs. East at East High, postponed to 12:30 p.m. Friday; Derby vs. Manhattan at Manhattan, postponed to 3:30 p.m. Monday; Liberal vs. Bishop Carroll at Bishop Carroll, postponed to 2 p.m. Friday; Andover vs. Newton at Newton, postponed to 11 a.m. Saturday; Kapaun Mt. Carmel vs. Eisenhower at Eisenhower, postponed to 11 a.m. Saturday; Valley Center vs. Maize at Maize, postponed to 11 a.m. Saturday; Circle vs. Maize South at Maize South, postponed, no time announced; Hays vs. McPherson at McPherson, postponed to 10 a.m. Friday.

▪ The Douglass baseball regional has suspended play until 10 a.m. Friday at Augusta High School.

▪ Regional baseball championship will be Saturday at Eck Stadium, times TBA.

▪ The 6A regional softball championship game Southeast vs. Campus will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday at Andover Central.

▪ Wingnuts game against Salina Stockade postponed; double header at 5 p.m. Saturday (two five-inning games).
