Heads up, lotto players, two jackpots are over $300 million
More than $600 million is potentially up for grabs for players of two popular national lottery games.
According to a news release from the Kansas Lottery, the Mega Millions and Powerball games both have jackpots north of $300 million at the same time.
This is the first time in the history of Powerball and Mega Millions that both games have advertised jackpots above $300 million simultaneously, said a lottery spokeswoman.
With nobody matching all the Mega Millions numbers from Tuesday’s drawing, the game’s jackpot has jumped to around $380 million, according to lottery officials.
If somebody hits the Powerball jackpot – the next drawing is tonight, Wednesday – they’d claim about $307 million.
Players, however, shouldn’t get their hopes up. The chances of hitting the Powerball jackpot are about 1 in 292 million. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is slightly better – one in about 259 million.
