He called 911 at 9:11 p.m., announced he had killed his wife and would be waiting for police out on his front porch.

Officers who arrived at the house in the 1100 block of South Martinson found the 63-year-old man on the porch as he said, Wchita police Lt. Todd Ojile said. That’s southwest of Kellogg and Seneca, a few blocks west of West High School.

The officers went into the house and found the man’s 64-year-old wife dead in a bedroom, Ojile said. She had been stabbed multiple times.

The husband was taken into custody and then taken to a hospital and admitted due to medical conditions unrelated to Sunday night’s incident, Ojile said.

“We have not been able to locate any witnesses,” he said. “At this time, we don’t know what led to the homicide.”

The couple had been married for four or five years, he said. There had been no previous reports of domestic violence related to them.

This is the 14th homicide of the year in Wichita, Ojile said.
