Three Wichita men were charged Tuesday in the robbery of a Wichita bank, authorities said.

Federal bank robbery and firearms charges were filed Tuesday against Wichita residents Raishat McGill, 34; Andre Bryant, 29; and Elijah Shelton, 25, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, two armed men entered Carson Bank, 4641 E. Douglas, at around 10:30 a.m. They demanded money from the four employees inside and forced two employees to open a vault, according to the news release.

One man shouted, “If you guys don’t open up in 30 seconds, I’m shooting,” the release said.

After leaving the bank with cash, the two men drove away with another man who had stayed in the car. The car soon was located in the 800 block of South Martinson, the release said. When officers arrived, the men fled, but officers were able to catch them.

The money and two weapons were recovered, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said Tuesday.

“This was really good work done, and we were able to catch the suspects in a quick manner,” Woodrow said.
