A 23-year-old man has been rearrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting at Wichita State University in August.

Isaiah Copridge was also charged with aggravated robbery in the death of 23-year-old Rayan Ibrahim Baba, a Saudi undergraduate student who was found lying in the parking lot of Fairmount Towers, one of the university’s dormitories, at about 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 8. Baba died about half an hour later at a hospital.

Sedgwick County District Judge Joe Kisner set Copridge’s bond at $200,000 at his first appearance on the new charges Friday afternoon. Copridge and 20-year-old Eboni Fingal were arrested the day after Baba was shot.

Copridge was rearrested Thursday after being released from a prison sanction for violating his parole in a child abuse case. The sanction came after his arrest in connection with the homicide.

Fingal was charged in October with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in connection with Baba’s death. Her preliminary hearing is set for January 7.

Copridge’s preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 17. He is being represented by a public defender, said Dan Dillon, a spokesman for the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

Baba was majoring in electrical engineering. WSU officials have said he had been enrolled in classes during the spring semester and was preparing to move out of the dormitory when he was shot outside the dorm at 2221 N. Hillside.
