Book by BTK serial killer’s daughter available for pre-order now
The tale of trauma and forgiveness by BTK serial killer Dennis Rader’s daughter won’t be released until early next year. But the book is available for pre-order online now.
Hardcover copies of “A Serial Killer’s Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love and Overcoming” by Kerri Rawson are selling for $22.99 each on Amazon.com. A digital copy for Kindle costs $9.99.
The book, on Amazon, is billed as “an intimate and honest exploration of life with one of America’s most notorious serial killers.”
It’s due for release on Jan. 29, 2019. The book’s publisher, Thomas Nelson publishers, specializes in works for the Christian marketplace.
Rawson, who grew up in Park City with her brother, mother and father, had no idea Rader was a killer until the FBI knocked on her door and announced his arrest 13 years ago. Most of Rader’s 10 murders took place before she was born.
Learning about his double life took a toll on Rawson and her family, she’s previously told The Eagle. They knew him to be a devoted family man, Boy Scout leader, public servant and church president — not the murderer who terrorized the Wichita area for more than three decades.
“As the town of Wichita, Kansas, celebrated the end of a thirty-one-year nightmare, another was just beginning for his daughter,” says a synopsis of Rawson’s book posted on Amazon.
“Telling her story with candor and courage, Kerri writes for all who carry unhealed wounds and who struggle to protect themselves and their families from the crippling effects of violence, betrayal, anger, and loss.”
Rawson, in a previous interview with The Eagle, has said she hopes her memoir will help others “grappling with how to forgive the unforgivable” to rebuild their lives. She announced its publication date on Twitter in February.
Rader, whose called himself BTK, which stands for “Bind, Torture, Kill,” is serving 10 life sentences for killing eight adults and two children in and around Wichita between 1974 and 1991. He evaded capture until 2005.
