This couple didn’t steal any hearts Wednesday, police say
A man and woman are thought to have started a crime spree by ordering food at an Arby’s on Valentine’s Day, Wichita police say.
The pair walked into the Arby’s in the 4300 block of East Harry at about 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday and ordered food, Officer Charley Davidson said. But when the cash register opened, the man pulled out a gray gun, jumped on the counter and snatched money from the drawer before running away.
About 20 minutes later, a man and woman entered the Circle K convenience store in the 500 block of North Seneca, Davidson said. The woman brandished the gun and demanded money as the man hit a customer who tried to intervene. They ran with the cash register drawer, including the money inside.
It is unknown if the 47-year-old customer was injured.
Davidson said police think the cases are related because of their similarities.
Police described the woman in the Arby’s robbery as 5-foot-9, 160 pounds and wearing a teal, black and white dress and high heels. The man was described as 5-foot-8, 130 pounds wearing gray sweatpants, a bulky blue coat and a black ball cap. Both were black, police said.
In the Circle K robbery, the woman was described as 5-foot-8, 160 pounds and in her 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and blue high heels. The man was described as 5-foot-7, 150 pounds and in his 20s, wearing a black jacket and tan pants.
Police ask anyone with information on either case to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
