Teen shot, killed in Wichita home by 17-year-old, police say
A 17-year-old is in custody after a Wichita teenager was shot to death in his house Sunday.
Three or four people armed with guns knocked on the front door of a house in the 900 block of South Pineridge at around 9 p.m. on Sunday and were let in, Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said. One of the five people in the home got in a fight with one of the armed people and was shot multiple times.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was 18 years old.
Police have not identified him. It is Wichita’s fifth homicide of 2018.
The woman owns the house near Lincoln and Edgemoor lives there with her children and grandchildren, Ojile said. The other four people home at the time of the shooting were teenagers, including the 18-year-old who was killed.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Monday morning near Lincoln and Rock and booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of murder and other charges, Ojile said.
Police are working to identify the other people involved and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
