Five injured in shootings late Monday
Five people were injured after two shootings in Wichita late Monday.
A 23-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition at around 11:15 p.m. after a shooting in the 2000 block of West MacArthur near Meridian.
He was shot in the thigh, Officer Charley Davidson said.
The injured man told police that three people got inside his home and started shooting. He grabbed a handgun and began firing back, Davidson said.
The three suspects arrived at the emergency room later with gunshot wounds.
Davidson said the shooting is under investigation. It was immediately unknown why the shooting happened, but police believe it wasn’t random.
Earlier in the night, shortly after 9 p.m., police were sent to the 2800 block of East Wilma regarding a drive-by shooting.
A 31-year-old man was found lying in the front of the home with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition, Davidson said.
Police don’t have any suspects at this time.
