Wichita public schools were already out for an in-service day. This morning’s in-service sessions are canceled. All teachers and staff who are scheduled to participate in the afternoon sessions should arrived as scheduled at 12:30 p.m., the school district said.
“Employees who are part of the emergency weather crews, district supply department, custodians and security personnel should report as scheduled. All other district employees should delay their report time by 2 hours, or no later than 10am.”
The McConnell Air Force Base is also on late reporting this morning, according to a news release.
The Wichita Police Department said the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan is in effect. If you’re involved in an accident, you can move the cars and there’s no alcohol involved, then you can fill out an accident report at any QuikTrip, Kwik Shop, or on the WPD app.
The National Weather Service in Wichita said there was .20 inches of ice accumulation and .30 inches of sleet/snow accumulation.
The City of Wichita said crews began working at 10 p.m. Monday. They’ve been applying a salt-sand mix to emergency routes. Sixty trucks are treating roads.
