Public invited to celebrate life of Wichita Marine

A celebration of life for Nathan Ordway, 21, will take place Saturday at the Hartman Arena, his family said Tuesday.

“We want everyone who wants to pay their respects, anyone who wants to tell a memory, or anyone who just wants to come and speak with the family to attend,” his mom said on Facebook.

The family is also inviting anyone who didn’t know Ordway, but would like to pay their respects.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the celebration will begin at 6.

Ordway was a Wichita Heights High School graduate. He joined the Marines soon after graduation and became a crew chief.

The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed Ordway was one of three Marines lost when their MV-22 Osprey aircraft crashed into the sea off the east coast of Australia while trying to land on Aug. 5.

The search and rescue was called off the next day and a recovery mission is underway.
