New order pushes Bombardier C Series firm orders to 360

In the same week that Bombardier delivered its first C Series CS300 jetliner, the Canadian parent of Learjet has received a firm order for two more.

The Tanzanian Government Flight Agency signed firm purchase agreements for two CS300 jets and one Q400 twin turboprop airliner, Bombardier said Friday.

The deal for all three aircraft is valued at $200 million at current list prices. The aircraft will be leased by the agency to Air Tanzania.

“The CS300 aircraft will allow Air Tanzania to expand both its domestic and regional markets, and it has the range to open new international destinations such as the Middle East and India,” Jean-Paul Boutibou, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft vice president of sales for Africa and the Middle East, said in a news release.

Friday’s CS300 announcement comes days after Bombardier delivered its first CS300 — its largest C Series variant — to AirBaltic on Monday, which plans to put the airplane into service on Dec. 14.

Bombardier said with the Tanzania order, it has 360 firm orders for the CS300 and CS100, the first airplane of which was delivered to launch customer Swiss International Airlines in June.

Both the CS100 and CS300 have undergone and continue to undergo testing at the Bombardier Flight Test Center on the west side of Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.
