BG Products plans to construct a 36,000-square-foot building near downtown Wichita and add 11 full-time jobs.
That’s according to the Greater Wichita Partnership, which said in an e-mail Tuesday that the $11.5 million expansion near its existing buildings at 740 S. Wichita is for an international training facility and expanded research and development in its chemistry and auto testing laboratories.
The Eagle previously reported plans for the new building in June.
The Wichita City Council on Tuesday approved up to $12 million in industrial revenue bonds for the project and a five-year tax abatement on the new construction, with an option to renew the abatement for another five years.
BG employs 174 people in Wichita. The 11 new jobs are expected to be added over five years at an average annually salary of $70,200, including benefits, according to city documents.
The company, which manufactures automotive products, also has operations in El Dorado and Derby, and employs a total of 294 workers.
