Local tech startup Lawn Buddy expands territory beyond Wichita
Lawn Buddy, a Wichita technology startup that links homeowners to lawn mowing and snow removal services, is expanding beyond Wichita.
It is now active in Lawrence and the Kansas City and Dallas/Fort Worth areas.
Co-founded by Marine veteran Steven Werner, the company has built its platform and is recruiting lawn mowing firms in those markets to provide services to inquiring homeowners.
Lawn Buddy works like Uber, where people can log onto the app, provide their information and an independent lawn service will contact them to cut their grass at a set price and time.
So far, said Toby Kriwiel, the firm’s marketing director, 200 lawns have been cut through the app, with interest growing.
Lawn Buddy is one of a handful of promising tech and software companies that have started in Wichita in the last two years.
Werner and his wife, Sonya, founded the company a little more than a year ago. Today, it has three full-time employees, a part-time employee and an intern.
