Table of Hope summer concert series

A new monthly summer concert series by Table of Hope will launch Friday with a show by local singer/songwriter Nikki Moddelmog at Sedgwick County Park’s shelter No. 4, and a ticket includes dinner. The shows will continue at various locations around town throughout the summer. Other artists on the lineup: Lisa Koch at Hyde Park Recreation Center in July, Shaun-Michael Morse and Jenny Mitchell at Roxy’s Downtown in August, and Summer Osborne at Club Boomerang in September. The shows are a fundraiser for the Loaves and Fishes food pantry. Tickets are $20 a concert, or tickets to all four shows are $60.

Pac-Matano at Douglas Design District FREE ALERT

Quickdraw Studios and Matano, local start-ups, will host a free event Saturday in the Douglas Design District to debut the new location-based game “Pac-Wichita.” Attendees will download the video game app that turns the design district into a life-size Pac-Man game, where players can collect points and win prizes. There will be live music throughout the event, including headliners Kill Vargas, and multiple food trucks on site, including Dappery Dodo Breakfast Burritos, LoLo’s Crepes, Katz Smokehouse and more.

Laugh Your Wig Off at Club Boomerang

Can’t decide between dancing, drinks or stand-up this weekend? Club Boomerang will have all three Friday at its Final Friday edition of Laugh Your Wig Off. It’s an evening of drag performances by Divinity Masters and Michael Starla Nyte Turner, along with multiple comedy sets including one from Lawrence-based headliner Amber Leham. The show is open to ages 18 and over.

Fireworks show, concert at Bradley Fair

The fifth and final concert of the annual Bradley Fair summer concert series happens on Thursday, and per tradition, it will conclude with a fireworks display over Bradley Fair lake. The show will feature soul-jazz trumpeter Lin Rountree. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs. Beverages will be for sale at the event.

Styx at the Orpheum

The Orpheum Theatre will be rockin’ Tuesday to classic tunes like “Come Sail Away” and “Lady” as Styx makes a stop in Wichita. The famous rock band from Chicago was the first group to release four triple-platinum albums in a row. Styx, the band that’s been creating hits since the ’70s, has averaged more than 100 shows a year for nearly two decades.

All That Jazz Festival at Riordan

The Riordan Clinic will be the site this weekend of a jazz festival featuring headlining act Fingerprints. The festival will include a cash bar and local food vendors, and a portion of money raised will go to a back-to-school supply drive. Other jazz artists performing are the Corey Rolfe Trio and Rudy Love Jr. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Shoppers looking for crafty creations and vintage bling will find Century II filled on Saturday with the Craftapalooza & Vintage Market. There will be handcrafted items, antiques and bling and glam boutiques. Booths will also offer re-purposed items for home decor and one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Children’s Garden Anniversary FREE ALERT

The Downing Children’s Garden – the colorful playground inside Wichita’s Botanica – is celebrating its fifth anniversary on Saturday and is inviting families to join in on the fun with face painters, life-size games and more. Tanganyika will have animals on site for visitors to interact with, and Wichita Center for the Arts will have a specialty art project. Snacks and lunch also will be served.

Chamber Music at the Barn

The 20th season of Chamber Music at the Barn, a summer series of classical concerts put on at the Prairie Pines Tree Farm, opens this weekend. The first show will feature the local ensemble Full Circle performing a program of Mozart, Brahms and the premiere of Aleks Sternfeld-Dunn’s piano quartet, “This Is What I Know.”
