Why U.S. Youth Soccer is betting big on Wichita — three years in a row
Wichita’s rise as a premier youth sports destination continues.
United States Youth Soccer announced Thursday that Wichita will host the National Presidents Cup in 2026, 2027 and 2028, locking in a three-year commitment to bring thousands of athletes and families back to the city. All three tournaments will be held at Scheels Stryker Sports Complex.
The decision follows Wichita’s successful runs as host in 2023 and 2024, when the city drew praise from players, coaches and organizers for its hospitality and first-class venues.
“Wichita has proven to be an ideal host for our National Presidents Cup,” said USYS CEO Tom Condon in a statement. “With its top-tier venues, strong collaboration with Kansas State Youth Soccer and incredible support from city and state leaders, Wichita continues to raise the bar.”
Over the next three years, the Presidents Cup is projected to bring more than 6,000 participants and families to Wichita — generating an estimated $12 million in direct economic impact for Wichita.
It’s another sign how sports tourism is booming in the city, thanks to its central location, strong community partnerships and investments in facilities like Scheels Stryker Sports Complex.
“To be chosen as the host for three consecutive years is a remarkable honor and a reflection of the investments we’ve made in sports tourism and our facilities,” said Josh Howell, vice president of sports development at Visit Wichita.
Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland also praised the selection, calling it “proof that sports tourism is a growing sector for the state economy.”
Additional details on the tournament will be announced closer to the event dates.
