Introducing the Wichita Eagle’s 2026 All-Metro girls swim and dive team

The Wichita Eagle has selected its All-Metro girls swim and dive team for the 2026 spring season, recognizing the top swimmers, divers and coaches from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties.

Selections were made with a heavy emphasis on postseason success from this season. The All-Metro team includes three teams, with the first team featuring the area’s top swimmers, divers, relays and coach of the year.

Andover sophomore Hollyn Griffin was named the Swimmer of the Year on the All-Metro team after finishing top-three in all four of her events at the Class 5A state meet.

Wichita Eagle All-Metro girls swim and dive team

Kaylonie Amphone-Suh, East freshman

Amphone-Suh was a first-time All-Metro selection after a strong finish to the season for East. At the Class 6A state meet, she placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.72 and eighth in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.44. She also swam on East’s 200 medley relay that placed sixth and the 200 free relay that finished seventh. She also won City League titles in all four of her events.

Hollyn Griffin, Andover sophomore

Griffin was a first-time All-Metro selection after a standout postseason for Andover. At the Class 5-1A state meet, she finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:10.50 and second in the 100 freestyle in 52.97. She also swam on Andover’s 400 free relay and 200 medley relay, which both placed third. Griffin also won AV-CTL Division II titles in all four of her events.

Sienna Hurst, Andover Central senior

A first-time All-Metro selection, Hurst scored in two individual events and two relays at the Class 5-1A state meet for Andover Central. She placed fifth in the 50 freestyle in 25.11 and third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.05. She also swam on the Jaguars’ 200 free relay and 400 free relay, which both finished fourth. Hurst also won AV-CTL Division II titles in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.

Jordan Kleeman, East senior

Kleeman was a two-time All-Metro selection after another strong postseason for East. At the Class 6A state meet, she placed sixth in the 100 butterfly in 58.80 and fifth in the 100 backstroke in 59.11. She also swam on East’s 200 medley relay and 200 free relay, which both placed sixth. She won the City League title in the 100 backstroke.

Everley Maloney, Kapaun Mt. Carmel freshman

Maloney was a first-time All-Metro selection after scoring in four events at the Class 5-1A state meet. She placed third in the 100 butterfly in 58.08 and fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.38. She also swam on Kapaun’s 200 medley relay that placed seventh and the 200 free relay that finished fifth. She was also the City League champion in the 100 butterfly.

Madelyn McCluskey, Maize South junior

McCluskey was a first-time All-Metro selection after scoring in two individual events at the Class 5-1A state meet. She placed fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.51 and third in the 100 freestyle in 54.21. She also swam on Maize South’s state-qualifying 200 free relay and 400 free relay. McCluskey was also the AV-CTL Division I champion in the 100 butterfly.

Lindsay McIntyre, Andover Central junior

McIntyre was a first-time All-Metro selection after scoring in two individual events and two relays at the Class 5-1A state meet. She finished fourth in the 50 freestyle in 24.94 and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 55.73. She also swam on the 200 free relay and 400 free relay, which both placed fourth. McIntyre also won the AV-CTL Division II title in the 100 freestyle.

Ridlee Parkhurst, Derby junior

Derby had one of the area’s top postseason performers in this first-time All-Metro selection. At the Class 6A state meet, Parkhurst finished second in the 100 freestyle in 53.04 and fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.34. She also swam on Derby’s state-qualifying 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. She won AV-CTL Division I titles in all four of her events.

Alice Schmidt, Classical freshman

Schmidt earned first-team All-Metro honors after a strong showing at the Class 5-1A state meet. She placed fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.00 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:19.84.

Sydney Schumaker, Maize South senior

A two-time All-Metro selection, Schumaker placed second at the Class 5-1A state meet in diving with a score of 460.10. She also won the AV-CTL Division I title in diving.

Genevieve Wilhite, Bishop Carroll senior

A four-time All-Metro selection, Wilhite finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.56 and fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.61 at the Class 5-1A state meet. She also swam on the 400 free relay that placed sixth and the 200 medley relay that qualified for state. Wilhite also won the City League title in the 500 freestyle.

East 200 medley relay

East’s 200 medley relay placed sixth at the Class 6A state meet in 1:52.08. The relay team was made up of senior Jordan Kleeman, freshman Kaylonie Amphone-Suh, junior Kaitlyn Ly and senior June Schmidt. The Blue Aces also won the City League title in the event.

East 200 free relay

East’s 200 free relay placed seventh at the Class 6A state meet in 1:42.90. The relay team consisted of senior Jordan Kleeman, freshman Kaylonie Amphone-Suh, junior Kaitlyn Ly and senior June Schmidt. The Blue Aces also won the City League title in the event.

Andover 400 free relay

Andover’s 400 free relay placed third at the Class 5-1A state meet in 3:45.87. The team consisted of freshman Helena Melo, sophomore Ella Goodman, sophomore Madey Zerger and sophomore Hollyn Griffin. Andover also won the AV-CTL Division II title in the event.

Joe Hutchinson, East coach

East’s veteran coach guided the Blue Aces to another City League championship and then a sixth-place team finish at the Class 6A state meet.
