Introducing the Wichita Eagle All-Metro boys golf team for 2025 season

The Wichita area featured some of the top high school boys golfers in Kansas this season, and that star power is highlighted on The Wichita Eagle’s 2025 All-Metro boys golf team.

The All-Metro squad features the top golfers, as well as a Coach of the Year, from teams in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties. Selections are based on a heavy emphasis on postseason finishes.

After winning the Class 5A individual championship and carrying the lowest scoring average in Wichita, Andover Central junior Colt Farrow was named the Boys Golfer of the Year.

A 3-time All-Metro selection, Farrow ascended to the top of the state this season by winning the Class 5A championship with an 11-under, 36-hole total of 131 strokes. The Colorado recruit finished with the area’s best scoring average at 70.4 strokes.

Grant Hatzenbuehler, Andover senior

After winning a loaded regional field, the senior notched a sixth-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament while holding a 72.1 scoring average.

Anderson Helmer, Circle junior

Back on the All-Metro team after winning the Class 4A title in 2023, Helmer was once again in contention every week with a 75.0 scoring average. After notching top-3 finishes at league and regionals, he took fifth place at the 4A state tournament.

Luke Springer, Eisenhower junior

The consistent force for one of Wichita’s best teams, Springer carried a 72.5 scoring average and placed top-5 in all three postseason events. After finishing runner-up at league and regionals, he notched a fourth-place finish at the Class 5A state tournament.

Grant Waterson, Hesston senior

He snapped out of a funk in a big way at the Class 3A state tournament to win the individual title with a 36-hole total of 147 strokes. He finished his senior season with a 79.2 scoring average.

Hans Widener, Collegiate coach

Collegiate has one of the most proud traditions of any program in Kansas, but the Spartans hadn’t won a state championship since 2015. That changed this season, as Collegiate prevailed to claim the Class 3A crown with a squad that featured Landon langston, Jacobi Salyers, Charlie Gentile, Remy Blanchaert, Zach Voloch and Torsten Overman.
