Three poachers killed two antelope and left them to rot in a Kansas wheatfield
Three people confessed to game wardens that they poached two antelope and left them to rot in a Kansas wheatfield in October.
Game wardens were called to a field in Morton County, in the southwest part of the state, on Oct. 21, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism said in a Facebook post.
“Evidence collected at the scene indicates that both antelope were shot with a rifle outside of a open rifle season and left in the field to rot,” the agency posted. “Evidence also suggested that the suspects had little or no regard to the freshly drilled winter wheat field and drove through the field to kill the antelope.”
The agency asked anyone with information on the killings to contact them.
On Thursday, the agency posted an update that three people confessed to game wardens after numerous tips and five months of investigation. Charges are pending against the people, whose names were not released.
"Kansas Game Wardens offer our sincere thanks to those anonymous citizens that came forward with tips," the post said. "Even a seemingly small piece of information can be the key to solving a case. Without the support and tips from the public, this case would not have been solved. THANK YOU!"
