Wichita State dropped out of both major basketball polls on Monday after losing two of three games.

The Shockers (18-7) were No. 25 in last week’s Associated Press poll and No. 24 in the USA Today coaches poll in a three-week return to the national rankings.

On Monday, they received 14 points in the AP poll of writers and broadcaster, ninth among schools receiving votes. In the coaches poll, the Shockers are third with 30 points. WSU’s fall started with a loss to Illinois State on Feb. 6. Saturday’s 53-50 home loss to Northern Iowa booted WSU from the top 25.

The Shockers play New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Monday at Koch Arena.

Villanova is No. 1 in both polls. Kansas is No. 2 in both, followed by Oklahoma, Iowa and North Carolina in the coaches poll.
