Wichita State’s path in the American Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament in Fort Worth is set.

Following the Shockers’ 20-point victory over South Florida to conclude the regular season at Koch Arena on Sunday, WSU (16-14, 9-9 AAC) secured the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament and will face No. 11 seed Tulsa (5-24, 1-17 AAC) at 6 p.m. Thursday with the game broadcast on ESPNU.

The winner on Thursday will face No. 3 seed Tulane (19-10, 12-6 AAC) in the quarterfinals at 8 p.m. Friday with the game broadcast once again on ESPNU. If WSU advances to Saturday’s semifinals, it would play at 4 p.m. on an ESPN2 broadcast. Sunday’s tournament championship game is slated for 2:15 p.m. with an ESPN broadcast.

Considering WSU’s position as a No. 6 seed, the path to the semifinals is as favorable as the Shockers could have hoped for. WSU dispatched Tulsa both times in the regular season, then just beat Tulane 83-76 in New Orleans on Feb. 26. The Green Wave did win the first meeting in Wichita, 95-90 in overtime, back on Jan. 25. But WSU has proven it can beat the two opponents it would face on Thursday and Friday.

For the fourth time in the last five seasons, WSU outperformed its preseason projection in the coaches’ poll — the Shockers were picked eighth by coaches before this season.

WSU fans looking to watch the Shockers play in person at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth can purchase tickets to the AAC tournament through Ticketmaster.
