ESPN2 wants WSU game at Intrust; start time moved up
Just a few days after announcing the tip time for Wichita State’s game against Oklahoma, it’s been changed.
But it’s for a good reason.
ESPN2 picked up the game, which was previously scheduled to be aired on ESPNU; consequently, tip time for the Shockers-Sooners will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at Intrust Bank Arena.
This year, Wichita State has a record number of games slated to be aired on either ESPN or ESPN2 – as many as 14, with the Intrust Bank Arena game added to the slate.
The time shift will also affect previously announced game times for the women’s basketball team’s Shocker Winter Classic at Charles Koch Arena on Dec. 16. The Lady Shockers will now face Alcorn State at 6 p.m., and the Oral Roberts-Chicago State matchup has been pushed back to 8:30 p.m.
With membership in the American Athletic Conference comes increased national television exposure for the Shockers – as many as half of WSU’s 30 regular-season contests are earmarked for either ESPN, ESPN2 or CBS.
