Wichita State’s non-conference basketball schedule is final
The pursuit of another non-conference men’s basketball game is over for Wichita State.
The Shockers, athletic director Darron Boatright said, will stick with their 12-game non-conference schedule. Attempts to find a mainland game connected to the Maui Invitational did not succeed.
WSU opens the regular season on Nov. 10 vs. UMKC at Koch Arena. WSU will announce its exhibition opponent on Wednesday, assistant director of media relations Bryan Holmgren said in an e-mail.
The American Athletic Conference portion of the schedule (including dates and TV) is expected in early September. Last year, the conference released that information on Sept. 8.
Times and TV for the non-conference schedule will be announced when the AAC schedule is final, Holmgren said.
This season’s pairings were announced in June.
The Shockers will play Cincinnati, Connecticut, SMU, Tulsa, Houston, Temple and Central Florida in home and home series. The Shockers play at East Carolina and Memphis with no home games. South Florida and Tulane travel to Koch Arena, but don’t get home games with the Shockers.
Wichita State will play a closed scrimmage against Oral Roberts for a second consecutive season. The teams will practice on Oct. 28 at Koch Arena. The scrimmage is closed to the public and the media.
