Wichita State’s Ron Baker named second-team All-America by USA Today
Wichita State junior guard Ron Baker was named second-team All-America by USA Today on Wednesday.
Baker, a guard from Scott City, averages 15 points and 4.5 rebounds for WSU (28-4). He is also a candidate for the Wooden Award, a national Player of the Year honor, and the Jerry West Award, given to the nation’s top shooting guard. On Tuesday, the United States Basketball Writers Association selected Baker for its All-District VI team.
Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky, Duke’s Jahlil Okafor, Notre Dame’s Jerian Grant, Kentucky’s Willie Cauley-Stein and Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell are on the first team. Joining Baker on the second team are Utah’s Delon Wright, Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns, Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon and Rakeem Christmas of Syracuse.
