About Cleveland State (1-1)
The Vikings are off to a 1-1 start this season. Their win came against Baldwin Wallace, 91-53. Their loss was of the blowout variety at Michigan, 101-53. Cleveland State ranks outside the top 250 of Bart Torvik’s college basketball ratings database at No. 259. Its main strength comes on the offensive glass, where the Vikings are getting an offensive rebound on 44.4% of their possessions. They also shoot free throws well at 81.8%. Cleveland State uses mostly small lineups around junior forwards Dylan Arnett and Isaac Abidde.
About Kansas State (1-0)
The Wildcats began their season with a workmanlike 89-65 victory over New Orleans in which they erased an early double-digit deficit and won by a huge margin the rest of the way. Max Jones, Brendan Hausen and David N’Guessan all put up big numbers in that game. Expect Achor Achor to play in this game after he missed the opener for family reasons. Jerome Tang is once again hoping for a lopsided victory against Cleveland State that will boost K-State’s NET rating.
K-State game prediction
If Michigan was able to beat Cleveland State by nearly 50 points with a brand new coach and a retooled roster in the first game of the season then I see no reason why K-State can’t also beat the Vikings by a large number.
The K-State basketball roster learned much about itself against New Orleans.
Jerome Tang and his team faced some early adversity in that game but pulled away as the evening went on.
The Wildcats should play better in Game 2 against an overmatched opponent.
K-State 91, Cleveland State 60
Last game prediction: K-State 88, New Orleans 60
Actual score: K-State 89, New Orleans 65
Season record: 1-0
Season record ATS: 0-1
Season record O/U: 1-0
