The Kansas State men’s basketball team is heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years.
K-State earned a No. 3 seed in the event and will open the postseason with a game against Montana State on Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The game is set for an 8:40 p.m. tipoff time on CBS.
The Wildcats were sent to the East Region, which means if they win their first two games in March Madness they will advance to Madison Square Garden in New York for the Sweet 16. That could make for a fun homecoming assignment for Markquis Nowell and Ismael Massoud.
Jerome Tang led K-State to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019 with a sensational first season in Manhattan that featured 23 victories and a third-place finish in the Big 12 standings.
This will be his first venture into the Big Dance as a head coach, but he has loads of experience in the NCAA Tournament as an assistant coach with Baylor.
His familiarity with March Madness will be put the test right away against the Bobcats, who went 25-9 this season and won the Big Sky conference tournament.
If the Wildcats win their first game and advance to the Round of 32 they will play the winner of Providence and Kentucky.
Potential Sweet 16 opponents include No. 2 seed Marquette and No. 7 seed Michigan State. The top seed in the East Region is Purdue. The No. 4 seed is Tennessee and the No. 5 seed is Duke.
