How do you celebrate a blowout victory over a former conference rival?

If you’re the Kansas State Wildcats and you just beat the Missouri Tigers, you troll your opponent by purchasing a billboard in Kansas City. And on that billboard you feature star running back Deuce Vaughn flashing a pair of peace signs next to the words “safe travels.”

Then you share a picture of that billboard, which is located in the West Bottoms off of I-670 on social media.

That is exactly what the K-State athletic department did following a 40-12 win against Missouri on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Not only did every Mizzou fan who made their way to Manhattan for the game view it as they traveled home eastward, the world saw it shared prominently on Twitter.

K-State also changed the image on its Twitter header to depict Willie the Wildcat as if he was the star of the Netflix show “Tiger King.”

The Wildcats don’t usually go to such lengths to rub it in against an opponent after a game. Sometimes they only share the final score on social media.

But things were different on Saturday.

“The landscape of college football is changing,” K-State coach Chris Klieman said. “I know one thing. Kansas State wants to be a part of the haves, and wins like this I think elevate you as part of the haves. You ask those kids in that locker room. We have got a lot of guys with a chip on their shoulder down there, because we think we have the potential to be a good football team and continue to improve.

“But this was no question a huge win. We talked about it extensively this week, how big this game would be.”

Perhaps the K-State/Missouri rivalry hasn’t gone dormant since the Tigers left the Big 12 for the SEC.
