Kansas State fans stop vulgar KU chant as Wabash tradition continues at Missouri game
There is no longer a reason for the Kansas State band to stop playing Wabash Cannonball at football games.
A week after K-State band director Frank Tracz threatened to end one of the Wildcats’ most beloved traditions because students were using it as a backdrop for a vulgar anti-KU chant that could be heard over the music throughout Bill Snyder Family Stadium, it seems as though his warning was heeded.
K-State students chanted the letters “K-S-U” as the song was played during pregame warmups and again soon after kickoff as the Wildcats hosted the Missouri Tigers and won easily 40-12 on Saturday.
Men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang helped lead the charge by swaying his body back and forth along with everyone else while wearing a purple poncho at the front of the student section.
Tang has been one of the most vocal supporters on campus when it comes to changing the chant to “K-S-U.”
The K-State band continue to play Wabash throughout the game without any issues.
