Touted 2017 recruit Daniel Green finally headed to Kansas State

Kansas State fans can stop wondering about Daniel Green.

The talented linebacker told 247 sports he is academically eligible to play college football and ready to honor his commitment with the Wildcats.

“I leave this weekend,” Green told 247 sports. “I’m very relieved. It has been a long process. For me to get everything I needed squared away, it was a lot of stress, but I’m relieved to be done.”

When he signed with K-State last year, many thought Green was good enough to play, and possibly start, as a true freshman. A 6-foot-3, 228-pounder from Portland, Ore., he was the top-rated prospect in K-State’s 2017 recruiting class.

Rivals ranked him as the nation’s 245th best recruit, and he chose the Wildcats over a number of power conference schools, including Utah, Oregon State and Mississippi. He was originally committed to Southern California, but switched to K-State on National Signing Day.

“He is a very aggressive player,” K-State coach Bill Snyder said of Green last February. “He has got good speed and quickness and good size to go along with it. He just flies around and hits you. He’s a good tackler, an aggressive tackler, and he does it well in open space. That’s what you need in our conference.”

His addition was seen as a major plus for the Wildcats, but he never made it to campus because of academic issues.

Now that he has solved them, he appears ready to enroll at K-State in time to participate in spring practices.

Green told 247 sports that he plans to spend his first semester getting into football shape and then redshirt in 2018. He will have a full four years of eligibility.

After a long wait, he now hopes to make an impact on K-State’s defense in 2019.
