KU, MU, K-State players to compete in Portsmouth Invitational for pro prospects

Former University of Kansas basketball players Melvin Council Jr., Tre White, A.J. Storr and Ernest Udeh will attend the 72nd-annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament for pro prospects Wednesday through Friday in Portsmouth, Virginia, it was announced Monday.

Council, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Rochester, New York, averaged 12.7 points, 5.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game this past season for KU (24-11). He also played at Wagner and St. Bonaventure as well as Monroe University.

White, a 6-7 senior wing from Dallas, averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds his senior season at KU. He also played college ball at USC, Louisville and Illinois.

Storr, a 6-6 senior guard from Rockford, Illinois, averaged 15.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 2025-26 at Mississippi. He also played at KU (2024-25), Wisconsin and St. John’s.

Udeh, a 6-11 senior from Orlando, Florida, averaged 6.7 points and 9.2 rebounds last season at Miami (Florida). He also played two seasons at TCU after starting his career at KU in 2022-23.

Former Kansas State players Nate Johnson and Nijel Pack and Missouri’s Mark Mitchell also will play in four camp games at the Portsmouth event.

Johnson, a 6-3 senior from Liberty Township, Ohio, averaged 12.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in 2025-26 for KSU. He played in Manhattan one season after three seasons at Akron.

Pack, a 6-0 senior from Indianapolis, averaged 16.8 points and 3.2 assists per game his senior campaign for the Oklahoma Sooners. He played three seasons at Miami and two at Kansas State.

Mitchell, a 6-8 senior wing from Kansas City, averaged 18.3 points and 5.2 boards last season at Mizzou. He played two seasons at MU and two at Duke.

Other players to compete in four games in Portsmouth: Rashaun Agee, Ezra Ausar, Robbie Avila, Donavan Atwell, Kylan Boswell, Nimari Burnett, Duke Brennan, John Camden, Corey Camper, Javontae Campbell, Tre Carroll, Rafael Castro, Zach Cleveland, Carson Cooper, Quadir Copeland, Malik Dia, Josh Dix, Tre Donaldson, Themus Fulks, David Green, J’Vonne Hadley, Jaden Henley, Meechie Johnson, Tavari Johnson, Lajae Jones, Trey Kaufman-Renn, Riley Kugel, Jaxon Kohler, Tobe Lawal, Xaivian Lee, Tamin Lipsey, Ven-Allen Lubin, Amani Lyles, Max Mackinnon, Elijah Mahi, Rienk Mast, Robert McCray, Devin McGlockton, Boopie Miller, Duke Miles, KeShawn Murphy, Izaiyah Nelson, Moe Odum, Felix Okpara, Otega Oweh, Kowacie Reeves, Malik Reneau, Jordan Riley, Chase Ross, Anthony Roy, Jaylin Sellers, Emmanuel Sharp, Tre’von Spillers, Corey Stephenson, Nick Townsend, Seth Trimble, Cade Tyson, Jalen Washington and Solomon Washington.

Hundreds of pro scouts will evaluate the prospects during the week in Portsmouth.

“There will be more than 250 NBA scouts. There will be European scouts. We’ll have 100 of those,” PIT chairman Michael Morris told WTKR.com. “We have 250 media requests, so people from all over the world will be here this week and Portsmouth is the center of it.”

“We’re really proud of our history. This is number 72. Our forefathers have put this together,” Morris added. “We’re just trying to carry on that legacy they created and try to improve it, make it better and just keep building on it. It’s got a long tradition of great basketball, finding NBA players and so we want to keep that rolling for well into the future.”
