Kansas courts in, around Wichita included as NAIA host sites for 2021-24 hoop tourneys

The NAIA Tournament is coming back to Kansas.

The NAIA, or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, announced its first-round host sites for its 2021-24 basketball tournaments this week. Park City and Wichita are among the cities that will welcome teams from the Kansas Collegiate Athletics Conference (KCAC).

Hartman Arena in Park City will play host to first-round games for men’s and women’s teams, with a KCAC school guaranteed a spot.

Down the road, Friends University’s Garvey Center will serve as another first-round host. with another guaranteed men’s and women’s spot from the KCAC.

The NAIA men’s and women’s tournaments will have 16 host sites with four teams at each site from 2021-24. The winner of each opening-round tournament will advance to the NAIA men’s National Championship at Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium or the women’s finals in Sioux City, Iowa.

“The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is thrilled to partner with the Park City Convention and Tourism Commission, Visit Wichita, and the NAIA to host these first-ever NAIA Opening Round Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments in March 2021,” KCAC Commissioner Scott Crawford said in a release.

“We look forward to providing a best-in-class event experience for the teams and student-athletes who will come to Park City and Wichita to compete in Hartman Arena and the Garvey Center on the campus of Friends University for the opportunity to advance to the finals sites of the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.”
