Kansas women in World War 2: Help us tell their stories
Earlier this month, The Eagle asked readers to tell us about Kansan who died while serving in the military in WWII.
Now, we want to hear about and from the women who served.
If you or a relative participated in the armed services or worked as a military nurse during the war, we want you to share your story. Service branches for women during WWII include the Women’s Army Corp (WAC), the Coast Guard Women’s Reserve (SPARS), the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP), the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve (WR) and the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES).
Use the submission form at the bottom of this page to share your name and some of your story, or email aleiker@wichitaeagle.com. You can also send information via postal mail to: The Wichita Eagle, Attn: WWII Women, 330 N. Mead, Wichita KS 67202.
Please include your name, phone number and email address with submissions. We may contact you for an interview. Please do not send original photographs, letters, news clippings or other documents. They will not be returned.
If you have questions about submissions, contact Amy Renee Leiker at aleiker@wichitaeagle.com or 316-268-6644.
