Ark River cleanup a great way to celebrate Earth Day
It will happen the day after Earth Day, but the 15th-annual Arkansas River Trash Roundup is a great way to care for our planet and beautify our local environment. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and includes a free lunch (and a free T-shirt while supplies last). Registration for volunteers begins at 8:30 a.m. at 151 N. Waco in the parking lot north of the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview. The goal is to collect more than 3 tons of trash. The roundup also raises money for a Wichita Ducks Unlimited project to renovate a wetlands area at the Great Plains Nature Center. – Phillip Brownlee
