Should I layer up in Wichita this Halloween? What the latest forecast indicates
It’s looking like perfect trick-or-treating weather for Wichitans this Halloween.
The holiday falls on Friday this year, and trick-or-treaters can expect to see decent weather, according to the latest forecast.
“For Halloween, it’s actually looking quite nice,” Chris Jakub, a forecaster for the National Weather Service, told The Eagle on Wednesday.
The weather service’s official forecast shows areas of frost before 8 a.m., but a high of 59 degrees Fahrenheit during the day with light wind and mostly sunny skies. Early to mid-evening, around trick-or-treating time, the temperature will be about 57 degrees, Jakub said, before seeing a low of mid-50s in the late evening hours.
While Wichita does not have specific times set for going door-to-door, Sedgwick County’s website says trick-or-treat hours typically run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunset in Wichita will be around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Wichita’s weekly weather forecast
Wichita has had a consistently cool week weatherwise, with its first freeze warning expected Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
“We have a forecasted low of right at freezing,” Jakub said.
While the cool weather is expected to stick, with several days of lows in the 30s, Jakub said Wichita residents could see warmer weather next week.
“Next week we do get into a warming pattern, where temperatures will be going up into the mid-sixties,” Jakub said.
