A 44-year-old Kansas man died after he was struck by a semi-truck Saturday along Interstate 135 in Harvey County.

Richard Anthony Hall, of Overland Park, died at the scene of the incident, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

The crash was reported at 3:22 p.m. along northbound I-135 just south of Kansas Highway 156, where a semi hauling a trailer was heading north on I-135 in the right lane, the crash log said.

A red 2016 Ford Fusion was parked on the right shoulder, where Hall was standing in front of the car.

Because of heavy traffic, the semi was unable to move over to the left to pass the Fusion on the shoulder, and slowed down as it approached it. For unknown reasons, Hall ran out onto the roadway and the semi struck him with its right front corner, according to the report.

The driver of the semi, a 39-year-old man, was not injured in the incident, the KHP said.
