A 60-year-old man died after the truck he was driving left the road and caught fire in a creek bed on Tuesday in Dickinson County.

Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs identify the victim as Jerri Garrett of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m. along U.S. Highway 77 roughly two miles north of Herington. Garrett was heading north on the highway in a 2020 Ford F-250 truck when the truck went left of the center line and into a ditch, the report said.

The truck drove through a pasture and came to rest in creek bed, where it caught on fire. Garrett died at the scene of the crash, the KHP said.
