Kansas man dead after car rolls, strikes telephone pole; driver fled, authorities say

A man is dead after a car rolled over and collided with a telephone pole in Cowley County Saturday night, according to Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs.

The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. on 33rd avenue and Meadowlark lane in Winfield, Kansas, the report said.

An unidentified driver of a 1995 Chevy Camaro was heading east on 33rd Avenue when the car crossed the centerline and left the road. The Camaro rolled and struck a telephone pole, the crash log said.

The passenger in the Camaro, 27-year-old Nicolas Morris of Arkansas City, Kansas, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

Authorities say the driver left the scene of the wreck.
