Kansas man, 30, dies after car rear-ends truck trailer, Highway Patrol says

A Kansas man is dead after his car collided with a trailer Monday afternoon in Anderson County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened around 4:41 p.m. on U.S. 169 at S.W. Missouri Rd. Dakota Kirkland, 30, of Welda, was northbound in a 1993 Ford Escort, KHP crash logs said.

A 1995 Ford F350 pulling a flatbed trailer was in front of Kirkland, turning left onto S.W. Missouri Road from northbound U.S. 169. Kirkland struck the trailer that the truck was pulling. Kirkland died at the scene of the impact, crash logs show.

The other driver, 50-year-old Rex Hartman of Garnett, was not injured.
