Collision in southeast Kansas leaves woman dead, man hospitalized, officials say

A woman is dead after a crash that happened around noon Saturday in Montgomery County, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

Tony Hood, 52, of Cherryvale, was heading south on County Road 5700 in a 2004 Chevy Impala, according to the report.

Katie Michels, 31, of Kansas City, Missouri, was heading east on County Road 2800 in a 2007 Ford Focus when she “failed to yield at stop sign” and struck Hood in the intersection, the report says.

Michels died at the scene. Hood was taken to St. John’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma, crash logs read.

Kansas Highway Patrol responded to another deadly crash earlier Saturday morning in Norton County.
