Sedgwick County residents prefer God, Wichita State license plates
Shockers, you’re so close to being No. 1 in this ranking. But to move up, you’ll have to beat out the big guy.
“In God We Trust” license plates rank tops among Sedgwick County residents who have specialty plates that anyone can buy. County Treasurer Linda Kizzire said 2,065 residents have that plate on their vehicle. Kizzire is one of them.
Supporters of Wichita State University have 1,789 plates in the county, making the Shockers the second-most-popular specialty plate available to anyone.
Other plates are popular but come with requirements such as being a veteran or firefighter.
Now you’re probably wondering who wins out between Kansas State University and the University of Kansas in the battle of the plates.
Well, Wildcats, you do, with 861 K-State specialty plates registered in the county, followed by 446 plates supporting the Jayhawks. Friends University and Pittsburg State University have 175 each in Sedgwick County.
Plates promoting breast cancer awareness come in fourth in the battle of the plates, with 623 registered in the county.
Rounding out the top 10 are the “Ag in the Classroom” plate with 108, Ducks Unlimited with 99 and “I’m Pet Friendly” with 52.
