A section of K-15 will be closed this weekend while crews repair a rail crossing near Spirit AeroSystems.
The track that crosses K-15 just north of MacArthur will be repaired, said Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hein. He said Spirit, which owns the section of track and has a permit to repair it, has done some work on the rail crossing in the past.
“This is a more complete job,” Hein said. “They’re going to take the tracks completely out ... and put new tracks down and new concrete down.”
K-15 will be closed between 31st Street South and MacArthur from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.

The quickest detour around the construction will be 31st Street South to Oliver to MacArthur Road.
If you need to get to the Kansas Turnpike at Mile Marker 45, which is the K-15 exit, you can turn onto Turnpike Drive off of 31st Street South. If you’re getting off the Turnpike at that exit, Turnpike Drive will take you back to 31st Street South during the closure.
If you’re taking K-15 farther south to Mulvane, KDOT will have a marked detour for drivers going south on I-135. Those drivers can exit at 47th Street South, head south on U.S. 81 and then east on K-53 to Mulvane and K-15.
Hein said the K-15 exit off of I-135 will also be closed. But Hein said K-15’s entrance ramp back onto I-135 will remain open.
The same work was scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 28-30 but was pushed back.
