What are the best middle schools in the Wichita metro? See the top 10 from Niche

No middle school in the Wichita school district made Niche’s list of the top 10 public middle schools in the Wichita area. Instead, Andover, Renwick, Maize and Goddard schools took over the list.

Niche releases its school rankings annually. The website compiles the rankings by looking at parent and student surveys and other metrics, evaluating academics, teachers, diversity, culture and the overall school district.

According to the company, the best school districts in the Wichita area for 2024 are:

  1. Andover
  2. Renwick
  3. Maize
  4. Valley Center
  5. Goddard

No. 1: Andover Middle School

  • Overall Niche grade: A
  • Student to teacher ratio: 17 to 1
  • Proficiency: 50% of students show proficiency in reading while 51% show proficiency in math.

No. 2: Andover Central Middle School

  • Overall Niche grade: A
  • Student to teacher ratio: 15 to 1
  • Proficiency: 41% of students show proficiency in reading while 44% show proficiency in math.

No. 3: Maize South Intermediate School

  • Overall Niche grade: A
  • Student to teacher ratio: 15 to 1
  • Proficiency: 43% show proficiency in reading while 33% show proficiency in math.
