The Maize school board is accepting applications through Friday for its vacant seat and plans to select an interim board member later this month.

Kent Voth resigned from the board last month because he moved outside district boundaries. Voth represented District 1, which is the southwest portion of the Maize district, since 2011.

Applicants for the vacant seat must live within the District 1 boundaries and serve until Voth’s term ends June 30. The seat is up for election April 7.

Applications, available online at bit.ly/MaizeBOEapplication, are due by 4:30 p.m. Friday. They should be mailed or delivered to the Maize Educational Support Center, 905 W. Academy Ave., Maize, KS 67101.

A three-member board subcommittee will screen the applications. Select candidates will be invited to interview with the Maize board during its public meeting Sept. 29.

Any questions about the application process should be directed to Robin Brown, clerk of the board, at 316-722-0614 or rbrown@usd266.com.
